Broadstone Warren Scout Site & Activity Centre are recruiting qualified & trainee instructors for 2020. Spend up to 7 months (April – October) working at the UK’s largest independent Scout Activity Centre. A competitive rate of pay and the option of subsidised accommodation can be provided along with training opportunities to gain National Governing Body qualifications in a variety of centre based outdoor activities.

This role includes involvement in the day-to-day operations of the site including activity instruction, site maintenance, cleaning, training, personal development, health and safety and ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and to a high standard.
Full training will be offered to candidates who do not hold any outdoor qualifications if the satisfy other criteria.
Enhanced pay if you hold a recognised climbing and abseiling award (GG level 1 in climbing and abseiling, ERCA traditional high ropes instructor, SPA, CWA with abseil element.
National Governing Body Qualification from the following Archery UK Instructor,
NSRA YPS Diploma (air rifles)
Understanding of The Scout Association
Undergo an enhanced DBS check
Over 18 years of age
At least 1 years experience working in Outdoor Education (desirable)
Good communication skills both orally and in writing
Ability to deliver training and activities to our broad range of customers
Clearly demonstrate an ability to provide first class customer service
Ability to manage personal performance
Desire to develop own skill sets
Ability to undertake maintenance/cleaning tasks as required
Location: Broadstone Warren Scout Site and Activity Centre, Forest Row, East Sussex
Accommodation: Subsidised Single room accommodation is available with shared facilities (TV License, Gas, Water Electric, wifi, laundry).
Uniform: Staff uniform is provided.
Payment of Remuneration: Salaries are paid monthly in arrears. £8.50ph – £9.00ph for the period of the contract (April/May – October). No overtime is paid.
Hours of Work: 18 core hours per week minimum. (normal week 37.5hrs)
Probationary Period: The post is subject to a 4 week probationary period.

Holiday: 5.6 weeks paid holiday (pro rata) including Bank holidays (although these will sometimes be required to be worked.)

Broadstone Warren has its own team of dedicated and hard working volunteers. These volunteers have made the commitment to support the site by turning up and assisting in a variety of different ways. Volunteers offer support from one activity or event per year to spending several weekends or a longer stint at the site.

Volunteers are one of the most important people that come to Broadstone Warren, as the site could not exist without them. They are given the opportunity to develop new skills and consolidate existing ones, in a fun, social setting while leaving a lasting legacy that will help Broadstone Warren last and develop into the future.
